Tom Lapslie is set to continue his injury comeback for Colchester United's under-21s when they travel to play Bristol City this afternoon.

Lapslie has not featured for the U's this season but completed 90 minutes in the under-21s' 2-1 triumph over Birmingham City last week, scoring the winner in the game.

The tenacious midfielder is expected to feature again for John McGreal and David Wright's side when they take on the Robins at the Championship club's training ground, kick-off 1.30pm.

Colchester boss Tony Humes said: “Tom did all pre-season and he then got a knock that has kept him out for a couple of weeks.

“I think it was the Norwich under-21 game just before the season started where he got the knock.

“He played 90 minutes in the under-21s against Birmingham and it’s nice that he’s back involved.

“It was great goal for him in that game as well.

“But it’s just important for him to be out playing.

“He has missed a few weeks with his injury and it was important to get him out there as he’s an important member of our squad.

“He gives us versatility to move people around and it’s important to get Tom fit."
