Callum Harriott will add quality to the Colchester United squad after impressing on his debut against Scunthorpe United.

That is the view of U's boss Tony Humes, who was pleased with the winger's showing on his first appearance for the club since signing on loan from Championship club Charlton Athletic.

Harriott provided the assist for George Elokobi's late equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester have Harriott on loan until January and while he warned it may take time for the winger to settle in, boss Humes is pleased to have him on board.

Humes said: “Callum has come in at very short notice and very late.

“It’ll take a little bit of time for him to blend in to how we want to play.

“But he showed he’s a good player and will add to the quality that we’ve got."
