Colchester United manager Kevin Keen has insisted he will not make any further new signings in this month's transfer window for the sake of it.

Keen brought in West Ham United striker Elliot Lee on loan earlier this week and has also snapped up Norwich City keeper Jake Kean, on a month's loan.

The U's boss has hinted that he would like to make further additions to his squad, as they bid to move out of the League One relegation zone.

But Keen says he has been impressed by his existing players despite their lack of league wins and is reluctant to make signings unless they can make his squad better.

Keen said: “I’m looking at my squad in the January transfer window and thinking, can I find something better than I already have or improve the squad?

“I won’t bring in people just for the sake of it.

“It doesn’t matter what position it is – if they can improve the squad, then I’d be interested.

“But the players I already have trust in me with the tactics and the way we play and I trust in them to do the job.

“Since I came into the club about a month ago, the players that are here at Colchester are giving me absolutely everything and showing a lot of ability, whether it be technical or tactical.

“They’ve been really good but we haven’t got the results we deserve and the supporters will probably say I keep saying that and that’s the frustration."
