Colchester United manager Kevin Keen admitted his side's second-half display was not good enough after they were beaten 3-0 at Scunthorpe United this afternoon.

The U's conceded three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes at Glanford Park, with Paddy Madden scoring twice and Tom Hopper also on target for the Iron.

Colchester are now seven points adrift of safety in League One and although he felt the scoreline was harsh on his side, boss Keen said he was disappointed with their display after half-time.

Keen said: "Speaking after the game, it wasn't good enough.

"I'm really disappointed and there's lots for me to think about in the second half.

"It was a very familiar story - we played quite well in the first half but we didn't get going in the second half.

"We didn't take our chances and we paid for it.

"They were better than us in the second half and I'm really disappointed.

"Did we open them up enough? Possibly not but as an away team I thought we put up a good performance (in the first half) and they blocked a lot of shots.

"I was certainly disappointed that we didn't come into the dressing room at half-time in front so that's something among many things that I need to look at.

"They stepped it up in the second half and we made a couple of mistakes that cost us.

"I'm disappointed that they went 3-0 down very quickly - I thought I'd eradicated that.

"I wasn't very happy with the first or second goals but the third one was scored by a boy who scores a lot of goals and it was a great hit."
