Colchester United have bolstered their squad this afternoon after signing experienced defender Lloyd Doyley on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old right-back made more than 400 appearances for Watford in the top two divisions of the game before leaving Vicarage Road in the summer of 2015.

He spent 13 years at Vicarage Road and had a spell at Rotherham United last season, where he helped Neil Warnock's side stay in the Championship.

Doyley, a Jamaica international, is in line to make his U's debut tomorrow in their League Two home clash with Newport County, who have today appointed former Stevenage and Peterborough United boss Graham Westley as their new manager.
