Kurtis Guthrie has described Colchester United's winless run in League Two as a "shambles" - and says the players are to blame for their poor form and not manager John McGreal.

Guthrie gave his honest assessment of the U's current plight following their 2-1 defeat at Yeovil Town this afternoon, which saw them drop into League Two's bottom two.

Colchester have gone ten games without a win the league and after their defeat at Huish Park, where Guthrie's opener was cancelled out by goals by Yeovil substitutes Francois Zoko and Tahvon Campbell, the U's attacker gave his honest assessment.

Guthrie said: "It's the same every week - it's a shambles at the moment and it's nothing to do with the manager.

"They do their best every week but we're looking like kids out there at the moment.

"We're getting battered and the way we can't see games out, it isn't good.

"We need to take ownership as the players and it's nothing to do with the management team.

"They work tirelessly every week and they prepare us the best they can but if the players aren't going to do it, then things are going to have to change.

"If you're lying to yourself it's going to get worse and we'll get relegated if it carries on."
