Jermaine Grandison is set to feature for Colchester United's under-23s in their game with Watford this lunchtime.

Grandison, who arrived on a free transfer last month, is building up his fitness having not played competitively this season since leaving former club Shrewsbury Town last summer.

Matt Briggs is also likely to play at Florence Park against the Hornets, as Wayne Brown's side look to follow up their victory over Ipswich Town last week with another win.

It is a big week for Colchester's under-23s, who follow up their game against Watford today with a big Premier League Cup clash with Manchester City at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (kick-off 7pm).

Colchester head coach John McGreal said: "It's good that there's two games for the under-23s this week.

"Matt only played 45 minutes last Monday because he felt a little bit tight but he's continued to train.

"He'll be looking to get involved on Monday to try and get him more game time.

"It's the same with Jermaine Grandison, who will also be looking to get more game time."
