Colchester United striker Chris Porter has quit the club to sign for their League Two rivals Crewe Alexandra.
The 33-year-old, who finished the season as the U’s top scorer with 16 goals, has penned a two-year deal with Alex which will come into force on July 1.
Porter had been out of contract at Colchester this summer and had been offered new terms to stay at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The former Sheffield United man had previously hinted that he would be happy to extend his two-and-a-half-year stint at the club but has now opted to sign for Alex.
The news is a blow for Colchester, who were hoping to keep hold of their experienced forward for the 2017-18 campaign.
