John McGreal admits he is on the lookout for a new signing to add to his Colchester United squad – but will probably have to allow someone to leave in order to do so.

The U’s have already added four signings to their first-team squad this summer but boss McGreal says he would ideally like to bring in another player prior to the transfer window closing, at the end of the month.

Colchester have already brought in Cole Kpekawa, Ryan Jackson, Mikael Mandron and Rene Gilmartin.

But McGreal has revealed they might be scope for another new face in the coming weeks - with any addition likely to be a loan signing.

McGreal said: “We’re possibly looking for another body to come in but we would possibly have to move one out to do that.

“We’re looking into certain areas for that to see what we can try and do.

“I think we’re probably looking at loans I’d imagine – recruitment is looking at that at the moment and Steve (Ball) and I have got our heads down with what we’ve got, at the moment.

“If it happens, then great – if it doesn’t, then we’re really content with the squad and the under-23s that we’ve got.

“One or two might leave to try and drum up something, if we can.

“I think we need to be a little bit patient.

“We’ve got the four weeks until the window closes.

“We’re on the lookout – if it happens, then great, if it doesn’t then we’ll be quite content with what we’ve got.”
