Colchester United are already pursuing potential signings in the January transfer window to boost their League Two promotion push, according to head coach John McGreal.

The U's boss has confirmed that they are working hard on securing their targets when the window reopens in seven weeks time and revealed that players' agents are making contact with the club with a view to joining.

McGreal said earlier this week that they are assessing the future of their loan players such as Kyel Reid, Brandon Hanlan and Brandon Comley.

And speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Colchester's game at Barnet this weekend, he said plans are being put in place for both ins and outs at the club, in readiness for the New Year.

McGreal said: “We’re definitely casting an eye on the possibilities, both in and out.

“We’re in communication about sorting the loans out sooner, rather than later.

“We’re already looking at what happens in January and going into detail.

“We’ve taken in a lot of loans and we’re getting quite a few phone calls from player agents with players who want to come here as well.

“The window is only six or seven weeks away so before you know it, it will be upon us."
