John McGreal is remaining tight-lipped on whether winger Kyel Reid has played his final game for Colchester United.
Reid, whose five-month loan deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium from League Two rivals Coventry City officially expired on Saturday, was sent off for lashing out at Joe Morrell in the U’s 4-1 home loss at the hands of Cheltenham Town and is now facing a three-match ban.
McGreal declined to comment when asked whether it was Reid’s game for his side and if he will be returning to his parent club – but the Colchester boss admitted it was a “stupid” act that played a crucial role in contributing to their heavy home defeat against the Robins.
McGreal said: “Kyel went and did something stupid, especially for an older pro as well and you can’t do that."
Colchester are likely to reveal whether or not loanees Reid, Brandon Comley and Brandon Hanlan will be extending their stay at the Community Stadium this week.
