John McGreal admits Colchester United have been left to reflect on where their season is heading after back-to-back defeats.

The U’s suffered successive losses in League Two for the first time since last September, after crashing to a 3-1 reverse at Wycombe Wanderers.

Colchester, now without a win in four matches, have dropped to 11th in the table and lie three points behind the play-off positions with 18 games remaining.

U’s head coach McGreal said: “It’s now a realisation of where we’re going to go with the season.

“We have a good home game (against Grimsby) next week.

“It’s how they react and I hope the players are hurting, because the fans came in good voice.

“The disappointing thing is that we’ve gone back-to-back defeats, which we haven’t done for a long time.

“It’s testament to the lads and their character that it’s been such a long time since it happened but it (the Wycombe defeat) was very disappointing.”
