Doncaster Rovers striker Liam Mandeville has joined Colchester United on a loan deal that will see him with the U’s until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old was the second new addition to John McGreal’s squad on Transfer Deadline Day, following Queens Park Rangers winger Olamide Shodipo’s loan move earlier in the day.

Both will be available for the U’s home game against Newport County on Saturday.

Mandeville joined Rovers as a 16-year-old and made his first team debut in April 2015.

He picked up the EFL Young Player of the Month award in November 2016, after scoring five goals in six games and he ended the 2016/17 campaign with ten goals as Rovers finished third in League One.

The U’s new loanee now has 64 first team games under his belt.
