IPSWICH TOWN 1

COLCHESTER UNITED 5

Under-18 Professional Development League Two

COLCHESTER United's under-18s got back to winning ways in emphatic style with a thumping win at Ipswich Town.

Chris Llewellyn's side had not won for about three months and after a run of ten league defeats, the U’s very good display was rewarded.

Dean Ager's free-kick flew just wide for Colchester before Town took the lead after 11 minutes when Albert Wilton headed in at the near post.

Callum Jones' shot was blocked by the legs of keeper Toby Egan and Ager was also denied, before Colchester were rewarded by two goals in two minutes.

Ager fired in their equaliser on 22 minutes after good work by Noah Chilvers and Ollie Sims.

And following a free-kick, Sims and Chilvers combined to get the ball across for Jones to head down for Callum Anderson, who turned and smacked the ball into the net.

Colchester keeper Callum Coulter denied Jack Lankester and Wilton but at the other end, Chilvers' shot hit the outside of the near post before the U’s went 3-1 up six minutes before half-time with an odd goal.

Chilvers played in a curling free-kick from the touchline which eluded everyone and flew inside the far post.

Coulter pushed away a deflected shot just after the break, before Colchester extended their lead when Chilvers fired in from the centre edge of the box.

Coulter foiled Kian Ronan with his legs but the U’s then went 5-1 ahead on the hour.

After a short corner routine between Chilvers and Jones, the ball was cut back to the near post where Ollie Kensdale hammered the ball into the net.

Coulter saved from Wilton and Idris El Mizouni and Lankester headed wide as Ipswich looked for goals but Colchester claimed victory.
