SOUTHEND-ON-SEA & EMT captain Joe Robbins says his team will be out to put the record straight when they take on Woodford Wells tomorrow.

Robbins’ team have a poor record against Woodford, but come into this match as favourites with an impressive season to date keeping them third in Shepherd Neame Division One.

However, an inconsistent recent run has seen them drop slightly off the pace, and victory tomorrow will be significant if they are to go on and achieve promotion this campaign.

“It’s a game where we know we need to be at our very best if we are going to get maximum points,” he said. “They have some dangerous players and we don’t actually have a particularly great record at their place, so we will be out to rectify that.

“We had a good win last week (against Loughton) so it’s up to us now to take that into tomorrow as it’s getting really tight around that second place.”

Robbins is not wrong, with even fourth-from-bottom Hadleigh & Thundersley potentially just two wins away from moving into the top two.

Four wins in a row is the reason Hadleigh & Thundersley are suddenly back in the frame for a top half finish and maybe even more, with Adam Soilleux’s men rising from the mire at the bottom of the standings to mid-table.

Hadleigh got the better of Woodford Wells last weekend, with Soilleux full of praise for the way his team went about their business.

And he knows the significance of momentum in the closing weeks of the season as they bid to continue their terrific recent record when they drop in at Harlow tomorrow.

Harlow currently sit fifth but an away win tomorrow would likely see Hadleigh leapfrog them in the standings.

Billericay will be hoping to arrest a rotten run of form when they welcome high-flyers Orsett & Thurrock tomorrow.

Skipper David Houghton has seen his seen his side lose the last five matches to slide dramatically down the standings, and things aren’t expected to get any easier against Orsett & Thurrock.

However, three defeats in the last four may give Billericay hope.
