IMPRESSIVE performances by a strong team of Harwich swimmers led to a fiercely-fought competition in the Essex League.
The team travelled to Walthamstow to take on Basildon B, Chelmsford, Saffron Seals and Eltham Stingrays.
Harwich pushed it to the wire with strong point-scoring throughout.
At the final touch, the team came home third but just six points behind joint winners Basildon and Chelmsford.
Harwich’s swimmer of the gala was the excellent Jack Howlett, who won the 100m open freestyle in a new personal best time of 56.13 seconds.
He was also part of the triumphant freestyle squadron and anchor man in the boys’ open freestyle relay.
