HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club want to end the year with a bang.

And they hope to sign off their home campaign with a much-needed victory against mid-table Newmarket.

The sides are due to go head-to-head in an Eastern Counties League division one contest at Wick Lane tomorrow, kicking-off at 2pm.

Harwich, who lost all three of their games in November, then face a trip to second-from-bottom Southwold in their last game before Christmas.

“After a disappointing few weeks, it would be great to finish the year on a high note,” said skipper Sean Mills.

“We’ve had a tough time and are third from bottom in the table, but we’re only a couple of wins away from the top half.

“Mersea Island were near the bottom not so long ago and now they’re sixth.

“It’s a tight division and that’s why it’s important to pick up as many points as possible from these matches before Christmas.

“It will give us something to build on in the new year.

“There’s definite room for improvement and hopefully then we can kick on in January.”
