Taylor claims Welsh National under-17 title
12:36pm Friday 11th January 2013 in Local Sport By Matt Plummer
BROTHERS Owain and Rhys Taylor have had plenty to celebrate.
The pair play their squash at Ardleigh Hall and Lexden.
And Owain, a Year 12 pupil in Sudbury, produced an outstanding performance to become Welsh under-17s champion, at the Welsh National Championships, in Prestatyn.
He won a superb contest against local player Emyr Evans, in a match that lasted 70 minutes.
His rapidly-increasing strength and fitness enabled him to close out 11/7 in the fifth, to win 3-2.
There was more success for the Taylor family when older brother Rhys achieved his first Welsh national selection for the under-20 test matches between England, Scotland, Wales and other international visitors to Herriot Watt University, in Edinburgh.
Owain has also been also selected to represent the under-18s.
