Promotion is the aim for Athletic’s Hall

BRANTHAM Athletic manager Tony Hall wants his players to focus on their promotion goal.

His side are enjoying an FA Vase adventure, having stunned four-time winners Whitley Bay 1-0 on Saturday to book their place in the last 16.

David Grimwood’s extra-time goal settled a thrilling contest and Athletic now face another home match, against Durham side Shildon.

However, Hall is urging his players not to become distracted and wants them to remain focused on their main objective – promotion to the Ryman League.

Brantham have a crunch match at fellow Thurlow Nunn League premier division high-fliers Mildenhall Town tomorrow.

“It’ll be a very tough game,” said Hall, who reached the Vase quarter-finals during his playing days, with Bury Town.

“They’re second and we’re third, so it’s a very important match in terms of our promotion chances.

“We’ve got to concentrate on the league and I won’t let the players lose their focus, in terms of becoming distracted."
