HARWICH Runners set club records at the Great Bentely half-marathon.
The race attracted a full 600-strong field, facing cold and windy conditions, though the rain held off until the last competitors were in reach of the finish line.
The first Harwich athlete to cross the line was Robert Reason.
At nine miles the pack split and Reason finished in fifth place in 73 minutes 45 seconds.
Team-mate Brian Herrington had a great race to set the first club record of the windy morning.
His time of 77m 6s placed an exceptional ninth overall and a 40 plus club age group record.
Only nine seconds behind was Graeme Knott.
An 11th-place finish scooped the much-prized team award.
