ARDLEIGH Hall duo Will Southworth and Ruby Hudson have been crowned Essex champions.
The duo won their respective age groups at the Essex closed tournament, in Basildon.
The newly-crowned county champions saw their months of hard work pay off.
Southworth, 16, has been playing since the age of 11 under the guidance of England coach Lee Drew.
He won all his group stage matches with relative ease before facing Alex Shuter.
Both players fought hard for a place in the final, but Southworth’s physical training paid off as he sealed a place in the final with a 3-2 victory.
In the final, he faced another intense battle, this time against Tom Smith Evans.
However, he managed to sneak the fifth game and claim the Essex title.
Hudson secured the under-11 girls’ county title.
She has already been playing regularly for a three years and is coached by Tom Chitty.
In the final, she used her experience against Mikayla Mann, who also trains at Ardleigh Hall.
Hudson showed a superb display of tactical knowledge and shot execution to win 3-0.
