LITTLE Oakley joint-boss Paul Sadler praised the energy and passion of his players after they eased into the Border League Knockout Cup quarter-finals, after a 5-0 success at Hatfield Peverel.
The hosts had a man sent-off just before half-time and Oakley took full advantage, teeing up a last-eight contest at home to Great Bentley.
Sadler said: “It was good to have a competitive game.
“We were a bit rusty and the pitch was very heavy, so it took time to get going.
“But when we did, we controlled the match.
“I wouldn’t say the turning point was them being reduced to ten men, but that obviously played some part.
“In saying that, we did improve.
“Our approach play in the last third – missing in the first half – was rewarded with four goals.
“And the pleasing thing was that although we were up against ten men and in complete control, our players continued to show energy and passion up to the last kick off the game.”
