IT was a great day for three of the Gazette’s Thurlow Nunn League premier division sides on Saturday.

STANWAY ROVERS returned with a 1-0 victory at promotion-chasing Haverhill Rovers, BRANTHAM ATHLETIC thumped Diss 4-1 and WIVENHOE TOWN gained a very useful, impressive point from their 1-1 draw at Norwich United.

Stanway made it three wins in four games and four in six thanks to Chris Ribchester’s goal.

Brantham also pocketed three points, largely thanks to a one-sided first half against Diss.

Former FC Clacton manager Ray Turner scored twice in the first 14 minutes.

Wivenhoe were more than happy with their point at Norwich.

The hosts took the lead, but Mo Osman’s side levelled before the break through Ben Parkin.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN drew 0-0 at Ipswich Wanderers.
