THERE was no doubting the result of the day in the Thurlow Nunn League.

It was second versus third at the Goldstar Ground, where Felixstowe & Walton played hosts to the side hot on their heels – BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT.

And it was Regent who left the Suffolk coast in celebratory mood after a fantastic 3-1 victory.

Jake Turner opened the scoring midway through the first half and then Kevin Coyle fired in a 25-yard free-kick to make it 2-0.

Felixstowe fought back after the break and pulled one back, but Regent defended well to protect their lead and then sealed it with a cracking late goal from Ryan Salter.

Elsewhere in the premier division, STANWAY ROVERS suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to mid-table rivals Mildenhall.

Second-from-bottom WIVENHOE TOWN were also defeated but produced a battling performance in their 3-2 loss at home to high-flying Godmanchester Rovers.

Ben Connell scored both goals and gave his side an interval lead, after the ball was pulled back by skipper Marley Spindler.

Godmanchester then moved up a gear and scored three goals after the break, before Connell netted again after good work by Connor Mainstone.

FC CLACTON lost 4-0 at home to leaders Hadleigh United but the score was a harsh reflection of the game.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC were involved in another high-scoring affair, following last week’s 6-0 setback at the hands of Felixstowe.

However, this time they managed a share of the spoils after drawing 3-3 at Thetford.

In division one, promotion-chasing HALSTEAD TOWN slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES.
