HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club members played a nine-hole competition, prior to holding their veterans’ annual general meeting.
The course was in excellent condition, in spite of the recent bad weather, and the winner was Neil Howells, with 18 points.
His prize was a free subscription to the veterans’ section for 2014.
At the annual meeting, outgoing veterans’ captain Barrie Wheatley handed over to successor Geoff Wiseman.
The prizes for last year were also presented to the winners.
Meanwhile, in the main club section, John Oakley, Joe Bushell, Tom Neale and Mark Gillett beat Frinton away in the Mail on Sunday competition.
The score was 11½-3½.
Harwich now entertain Clacton in the next round.
