Armstrong can see an improvement

HARWICH and Parkeston chairman Tony Armstrong says there has been a “definite improvement” in terms of his club’s precarious position.

The Shrimpers have dropped into Essex and Suffolk Border League division one following a mass exodus of players, as reported in last week’s Standard.

However, while conceding that his club are still far from out of the woods, he believes there are green shoots of recovery.

Having had to cancel two pre-season friendlies due to a lack of players, Armstrong is “fairly optimistic” Harwich will be able to fulfil Tuesday’s home match against Wivenhoe Town Reserves.

And he is hopeful they will be in a position to play their opening Border League fixture, next Saturday.

“There has been a definite improvement in terms of our situation,” said the Shrimpers chairman.
