Tollesbury will be a tough test for Acorns

LITTLE Oakley joint-manager Paul Sadler is expecting a tough match tomorrow despite his on-song strike force.

The Acorns have scored 14 goals in their first two matches, thrashing Great Bentley 11-3 in their opening game and beating Alresford 3-1 last weekend.

Jordan Heath grabbed a brace in the first five minutes of the game against Alresford before the visitors pulled a goal back.

But Jake Kioussis wrapped the match up with astrike in the second half.

Sadler was full of praise for his goalscorers but knows it is early days in the season and that there are some tough tests ahead.

That starts with Tollesbury, who are the visitors tomorrow, and sit in fourth place in the Essex and Suffolk Border League.

The visitors have won both their opening matches as well and only sit two places below Oakley on goal difference.

Gas Recreation head the table with White Notley third.

Sadler “We have scored a lot of goals.

“We went 2-0 up in the first five minutes against Alresford but it wasn’t like the previous week’s game.

“We took a commanding lead early on but then took our foot of the gas and they setttled into the match.

“When it went to 2-1 at times we had to dig in.

“And we showed that we could dig in.”

Sadler is aware that Tollesbury will be a difficult prospect.

He added: “Tollesbury will be a strong test for us and it will show how far we have come.

“They are a top side.

“Last season we raised our game against the top sides, this season it is a different kettle of fish.

“We know Tollesbury will be a strong side on Saturday but the boys are going to go into the game full of confidence.

“It is important that we don’t lose on Saturday.

“We don’t want to lose against the teams around us and they pick up points against us.”
