STANWAY ROVERS and WIVENHOE TOWN both marched on in the FA Vase today.
Rovers’ progress came at the expense of near neighbours FC CLACTON, in the form of a 4-1 success at The Hawthorns.
Ray Turner was on target against his former side, heading home Craig Hughes’ corner, and Jordan Palmer brilliantly volleyed home to make it 2-0.
Aaron Condon gave Clacton hope by finishing off an excellent sweeping move, after great work by Parris Newland and a low cross from Scott Yearling.
But Stanway quickly restored their two-goal lead with a low free-kick from Jack Smith.
Substitute Christian Walsh added the hosts’ fourth with a cool finish.
Jack Harrington scored the only goal as WIVENHOE TOWN also progressed to the third qualifying round after an excellent 1-0 victory at Southend Manor.
In the Thurlow Nunn League premier division, Ollie Mann scored another hat-trick but his BRANTHAM ATHLETIC side lost a topsy-turvy contest at home to Norwich United, 4-3.
In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN had an outstanding 3-1 win at Leiston Reserves.
Llewellyn Evans, Jordan Hutchings and Lewis Cunliffe were on target for the Humbugs.
