LITTLE Oakley joint-manager Paul Sadler hailed his side as “unstoppable” during their landslide 8-1 success against Earls Colne.

Saturday’s Essex and Suffolk Border League victory pushed the Acorns up to second in the premier division, just two points adrift of leaders Gas Recreation.

With the previous top two – Gas and Coggeshall – both drawing last weekend, Sadler says it was an important victory and one that puts them in confident mood heading into tomorrow’s home match against University of Essex (kick-off 3pm).

“It was a fantastic result and goal difference is so important, as the teams around us are also free-scoring,” he said.

“September was a tough month for us and in some games our performances deserved more.

“However, on this occasion we got exactly what we deserved.

“Although the result may indicate an easy afternoon, Earls Colne were very stubborn at times.

“But for 25 minutes in each half, we played with so much energy and passion that we were unstoppable.”
