HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club coach Shane Manning says his players are ready to take on “mission impossible”.
The Low Road side face a trip to Eastern Counties League division two south pace-setters Colchester seconds tomorrow.
The showdown pits the top two in the division against each other, with both sides having stormed to glory in their opening six fixtures.
Colchester will start as favourites, given their resources and the strength of their squad.
But Manning insists his players will relish the challenge of playing a team that many believe already have the title in the bag.
And he says there is no chance of them going into the contest just to make up the numbers.
“It’s a classic David versus Goliath match,” said Manning, who watched his side hammer Ipswich YM’s second team 38-0 last Saturday.
“Colchester have set the standard in this league and we need to try and match that.
“A lot of teams have decided not to play them or have already given up on winning the league, but I refuse to do that."
