STANWAY ROVERS and BRANTHAM ATHLETIC have booked their place in the third round of the FA Vase.

Both Thurlow Nunn League sides had stunning victories on the road, to secure their spots in Monday’s draw.

Stanway won 1-0 at Watford-based Sun Sports, of the Spartan South Midlands League.

Joss Neale was sent off for Angelo Harrop’s side, for violent conduct towards Ross Hampton.

However, assistant boss Danny Slatter slotted home the all-important winning goal from the penalty spot, after a foul by Edwin Twesigomwe.

Brantham showed their spirit, fighting back from two-down before winning 4-3 at Combined Counties League side Wembley.

Simon Mann scored their winning goal in the last few seconds of extra time.

Wembley were 2-0 up at half-time but Athletic fought back to made it all-square after 90 minutes.

Kieran Lawler then put Brantham ahead in the second period of extra time – only for Wembley to level things up at 3-3.

However, Mann’s second completed a stunning, nerve-shredding victory for Paul Abrahams’ side.
