PLUMMETING temperatures saw lower attendances at Parkruns across the region on Saturday.

Ten Harwich Runners were undeterred, however, and their efforts saw an outright win for the club, two podium positions for the ladies, four age group victories and two personal bests.

One Harwich athlete determined to make the start line was Richard Flutter.

On a quest that began at the Ipswich event in December 2012, Flutter was set on achieving his coveted target of 100 Parkruns.

After attending events at 17 different venues across the country and chalking up nine first-place finishes, he finally reached his goal at the Great Cornard event.

Struggling with the remnants of injury and the icy conditions, he nonetheless completed his 100th Parkrun in fifth place among the 46 finishers in 19 minutes and 57 seconds and was first V45-49.
