DUCKPOND FC 3
CUSA FC 0
Colchester and District Sunday League premier division
DUCKPOND returned to action with a resounding victory.
Having not played for four weeks and with their own ground waterlogged, this match was played at Bradfield Rovers.
The first half was an even affair, until a delightful through ball from Dom Warren sent Matt Geen clear.
He delivered a perfect chip over the keeper to give his side the lead.
The second half was tight again.
However, Duckpond’s central defence pairing of Jamie Eades and Ben Hammond stood firm, allowing nothing through.
Duckpond then pressed and were rewarded with two great goals.
First, from a corner, Liam Duly fed Warren, who, with the outside of his boot, curled a great ball to Ben Hammond.
Hammond controlled the ball on his chest before volleying home an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.
Within minutes, Duly picked up the ball, ran at the defence and fired home the third goal to wrap the points up.
Duckpond now sit in fourth place but are still to be awarded three points from their match with Boltophs.
This would be enough to nudge them up to third in the table.
On Sunday, Duckpond take on bottom side Wivenhoe Old Boys at Shrub End.
