HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club coach Shane Manning says his players should be proud of themselves – despite bowing out of the Suffolk Cup against Sudbury.

The Tendring side lost their semi-final showdown after being beaten by a team sitting top of the table two divisions higher.

Harwich play in Eastern Counties League division two south while Sudbury are eying title glory in division three east of the London League.

The difference showed as the Suffolk side won Saturday’s contest 43-0.

However, Manning was still delighted with his team’s performance.

“I was extremely proud of the effort the boys put in,” he said.

“To lose to a team that not only play two leagues higher but are also comfortably winning that league is nothing to be annoyed about.

“Sudbury were a faster, better side but our guys stood up to them and made them work for their win."
