BRANTHAM Athletic are riding on the crest of a wave.

And proud boss Paul Skingley has challenged his players to keep their run going until the end of the Thurlow Nunn League season.

The Imps have rocketed to eighth in the premier division table after winning four matches in a row and staying unbeaten in seven.

The most recent of those successes was Tuesday’s dramatic 3-2 victory at Felixstowe, which came hot on the heels of a 3-0 win at Ely on Saturday. “The boys have responded so well, since I came in as manager,” said Skingley, who has seen his side amass 22 points from a possible 27 since replacing Paul Abrahams in January.

“They’ve been positive and are getting their rewards.

“If someone had offered me this return of points when I first took over I’d have bitten their hands off.

“I’d have been delighted.

“It’s not rocket science, in terms of what we’ve changed, though.

“I know the players and know what they’re capable of.

“It’s just been a question of making sure everyone knows their roles and responsibilities and motivating them to play to the best of their ability.

“Our success in recent weeks has been down to the players – not me – and the challenge now is to keep it up.

“We’ve got five games left and want to end the season as strongly as we can.

“That would be really positive and give us momentum for next season.”

Ollie Mann netted twice at ten-man Felixstowe but it looked like the hosts might have secured a share of the spoils, following a late leveller from Ben Cranfield.

However, Brendan Heath snatched the vital three points with almost the last kick of the game – sparking mass celebrations.
