HARWICH and Dovercourt Cricket Club skipper Sam Felgate believes his team can mount a promotion push this season.
The Low Road side flexed their muscles by romping to a nine-wicket victory at Bury St Edmunds on Saturday.
It was their first win of the new Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division five season and a feat they will be hoping to repeat in tomorrow’s match against Nacton.
Felgate has high hopes and believes his club are well-placed both on and off the pitch to be among the front-runners.
“We’ve performed very well in our first two games and, barring a brilliant bowling performance from Earl Stonham’s captain, we’d have two wins from two,” said the club captain, who also plays football for Harwich and Parkeston.
“Saturday’s win was a good indicator as to where we are at the moment.
“It’s never easy travelling to Bury, so to win by nine wickets was a big statement.
“We’re going into every game knowing we can beat any team in the league, which is a huge advantage.
“The club have spent a period of time in division five and it’s now time we start climbing the leagues again.
“It won’t happen overnight, but things are looking up.”
