HARWICH Runner Ian Cannons visited his tenth different Parkrun venue this year and made his debut at the Chelmsford Central event.

He was rewarded with one of his fastest five-kilometre times of the season, clocking 20 minutes and 23 seconds for a superb 23rd overall out of 421 finishers.

Club-mate Sally Gillam also made the trip, running a course-best in 27m 6s to finish third V50 woman out of 20 in her category.

The most popular venue for the club was once again the Colchester event, in Castle Park.

Five Harwich athletes were among the 330 competitors.

Will Roxby-Clarke was first home for the club in a 27-second course best, clocking 22m 8s for 44th spot.

Dennis Warner ran him close, finishing in 22m 21s for third place in the V55 category.

Colchester regulars Peter Fraser-Hopewell and Kieran Callaghan put in consistent performances, running 23m 17s and 24m 16s apiece.

Fraser-Hopewell placed third V60 in the process.

Closing for the team, Di Warner put in her fastest Parkrun of the year in 34m 46s.

Along the A12, Elspeth Knott was the sole Harwich representative at the Ipswich event around the grounds of Chantry Park.

The talented super-vet placed an excellent 42nd overall out of 273 finishers and was first lady overall.

The highest-placing Parkrunner of the morning was again Richard Flutter, at the Great Cornard event in Sudbury.

Despite still nursing an injured leg, a bout of sinusitis and a marshalling error that saw him misdirected and having to double back on himself to get back on course, he still managed to clock a creditable 21m 26s for sixth place overall of 84 finishers and first V45.
