MISTLEY Cricket Club skipper Daniel Goff has sung the praises of South African batsman Jarryd Walsh.

The opener scored 108 - his third century of the season - as the Swans ended a run of three straight defeats by beating Frinton twos by 65 runs.

They are seventh in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one, heading into tomorrow’s match at Wivenhoe.

And Goff says Walsh’s fireworks were pivotal to the New Road victory.

“Jarryd’s innings was just what we needed,” he said.

“He stepped up to the plate and showed once again what a key player he’s become this season."
