DOVERCOURT’S ladies held their annual triples Gala.

It was an enjoyable day, with a dozen teams taking part from around the area.

All of them played four games of six ends.

The winners were Steph Heard, Doreen Cottee and Margaret Lawrence, from Tiptree Jobserve.

They won three games and drew one.

The runners-up were Denise Gordon, Paula Jacobs and Rose Schofield, from Clacton.

A spider was also played for the club charity, which is the Essex Air Ambulance.

This was won by Dovercourt player Christine Griggs.

Meanwhile, two Dovercourt ladies have been successful in county competitions. Griggs has enjoyed success in the unbadged singles, playing and beating Kedgley, from Clacton, Sandy James, from Wivenhoe, Chris Kennedy, from Brightlingsea, and Val McKillop, from Colchester.

She made it through to the zone final, being losing to Liz Dack, from Wivenhoe.

Griggs and Val Green, paired together in the unbadged pairs, are unbeaten so far.

They have won against pairs from West Mersea, Three Clubs and Colchester.

The fourth round, on a neutral green, was the tightest game, with the score being 15-15 on the 20th end.

Dovercourt then secured victory after scoring a four on the 21st end.

They will play in the zone final at Mersea Island, against Bocking Alliance.
