HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club are getting set for the new season.

The club kick-off their campaign by hosting Felixstowe in the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Plate tomorrow.

Harwich won the competition last season and their opponents were put to the sword the last time the sides met, losing 104-0.

However, coach Shane Manning is taking nothing for granted and does not expect it to be so one-sided this time around.

“Our goal this season is to retain the Suffolk Plate and gain promotion to Eastern Counties League division one,” he said.

“I’m positive but also cautious, because we all know it will be extremely difficult.

“Every club will have the same goals.

“Last season counts for nothing and the boys know there will be some hard work ahead.

“We’ll have to try and win the league just to have a chance at promotion.

“But we won’t worry about that and will just focus on each game as it comes.”

Harwich have lost Nic Falivino and James King from last season, but Sean Mills junior has returned and the club also boast the talent of several youth players. The first team will again be led by Kyle Hutchins.
