WIVENHOE TOWN maintained their unbeaten start to the Thurlow Nunn League division one season with an emphatic 4-0 victory at Cornard United.

Player-assistant boss Ray Turner continued his purple patch with a hat-trick, while the Dragons’ other goal came from Adam Hampson.

Wivenhoe are now three points clear of second-placed HALSTEAD TOWN, who lost 3-0 in their top-of-the-table match at home to Great Yarmouth.

Mo Osman’s side also have a game in hand.

The match kicked-off at 12pm and was part of the league's latest Groundhopper Day.

Elsewhere in division one, BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES lost 2-1 at Debenham LC.

In the premier division, Sean Gunn continued his amazing scoring run during BRANTHAM ATHLETIC’s 3-1 victory at Fakenham.

Gunn has now netted in five consecutive matches, including a hat-trick in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory against Long Melford.

He scored two more against the Ghosts, with Sean Bartlett also on target for Paul Skingley’s team.

It was not such a good day for STANWAY ROVERS or FC CLACTON.

Rovers, conquerors of Ryman League premier division side Needham Market on Tuesday night, lost 4-2 at Kirkley & Pakefield.

FC CLACTON conceded an early goal and lost 1-0 at home to Newmarket Town.

They had more possession and pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but were unable to penetrate a well-organised Jockeys defence.
