HARWICH and Dovercourt High School’s year seven rugby team played their first away game of the season, against Tendring Technology College (TTC).

Alex Ashworth scored the first try of the game, showing wonderful strength to cross the line.

Ashworth, Ioan Woodward and Regan Constable then scored further tries to secure victory in the North East Essex Costal Schools League contest.

Other players of note were Morgan Campbell, Liam Atkins, Lucas Low, Jenson Adams and Joe Sewell.

Meanwhile, Harwich’s year eight team suffered defeat at TTC.

The hosts started well and scored three tries in quick succession.

They soon added several more before both teams agreed to swap a few players, to even things up.

Although TTC finished as convincing winners, there were some encouraging performances from Harwich’s Harvey Rotchell, Mitchell Piercy, Mitch Smith, Jay Ayling, Will Miller, Jacob Jackson, Jack Jones and Josh Wells.

Harwich’s year nine team drew 10-10 with TTC.

TTC scored the game’s first two tries, but Harwich fought back through Sivanjan Sivakumar.

Number eight Charlie Geezler then took advantage of several missed tackles to level the game for Harwich.

Other players of note were Owen Brand, Harrison Mann, Theo Harvey, Joe Taylor, Charlie Cockburn, Andrew Bird, captain Jacob Parker and Jackson Rapley.
