SEVEN of the 22 Harwich Runners at the Harwich Parkrun produced personal best performances.

The highest-placed member was Simon Day, who was second out of 59 runners in a new best time of 19 minutes and 19 seconds.

Next over the finish line for the club was Madeline Lewis, in 21m 18s, fifth overall and first female.

Phil Sanderson (21m 46s) finished ninth and just one second behind, and completing the top ten, was Jason Meachen.

Claire Gooding-Matthews finished in 23m 54s for second female and 20 seconds quicker than her previous best.

Third female Claire Bransby achieved her fourth consecutive PB – this time 24m 56s – for a 46-second reduction.

Amos Seddon (16th in 23m 47s), who was running in the male 70-74 age category, recorded the highest age related time of the week (78.35 per cent), as well as running his fourth consecutive PB.

Elspeth Knott (83.6 per cent) was competing on the other side of the world at the Torrens Parkrun in Adelaide, Australia.

Down Under to represent Great Britain in her age group at the 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships the following weekend, Knott set a new course record for her age group (65-69 years) of 23m 51s.

This also gave her an impressive seventh female spot out of the 116 taking part.

She was ably supported by spouse Roly, finishing in 26m 10s for 99th of 258 finishers.

Mark Lloyd was fifth overall in the 10km race at Martlesham.

On the four-lap circuit he recorded a new personal best time of 36m 19s.

There was also a 5km distance on offer and Carrie Hook secured a PB of 22m 57s, finishing second in her age group (FV40).

Six Harwich Runners took part in the ten-mile race at Tiptree.

In a field of 362 finishers, busy Ian Cannons was first back in a time of 1h 14m 6s.

Matt Doran and Rob Warner practically finished together, with Doran completing it in 1h 15m 10s, with his team-mate just a few seconds behind.

Justin Cooper-Keeble is coming back well from injury and his time of 1h 18m 34s was ten minutes quicker than last month’s outing at Felixstowe.

Taking third in the FV55 age category was Ann Piercy in her quickest time this year (1h 27m 17) with Michelle Greenfield completing the distance in 1h 32m 49s to secure a new PB.

In the junior race, Eddie Cannons clocked 9m 19s over the one-mile distance to take third place.

Sunday saw the inaugural hosting of the Peninsula Triathlon, by Ipswich Basketball Club, at The Royal Hospital School, Holbrook.

The best result of the day for Harwich was Simon Day, finishing third overall and first in his 40-44 age group in a time of 1h 21m 58s.
