THERE were 18 Harwich Runners among the 51 starters assembled in Cliff Park for the 13th Harwich Parkrun event.

First across the line for the club was junior Archie Barrington, in fifth place overall, in 21 minutes and one second.

The blustery conditions meant personal bests (PBs) were in short supply but Ian Cottee was next home in 22m 10s, managing to trim seven seconds off his previous course-best time.

Father and son Myles (23m 39s) and Matt Doran (23m 44s) were 11th and 12th respectively and, as well as pipping his dad, the youngster had the added accolade of lowering his PB by nearly a minute.

The Harwich women enjoyed a successful morning, with club members occupying the top six places.

There was a first-ever Parkrun victory for a resurgent Claire Bransby, in 24m 57s. Super veteran Ann Piercy (25m 55s) was second, with the final podium slot going to Michelle Greenfield (26m 42s).

The third and final PB of the day went to Richard Neal (28m 27s), running his third Harwich Parkrun event, who improved by 9m 29s on his first run.
