CHASE Lane Primary School are celebrating more success at the Tendring Sports Personality Awards.

The Dovercourt school had another outstanding night, with its girls’ football team winning the Sports Team of the Year award.

Its athletics and cross-country team finished second, while the school also finished second in the Education Establishment section.

Head of sport Paul Bertram said much of the credit most go to the school’s enthusiastic pupils.

“It’s great to be recognised once again,” he told the Standard.

“For Chase Lane to be consistently regarded so highly over the last seven years or so is a honour to all involved.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers, coaches, volunteers and the governing body for all their efforts.

“But the main people I’d like to thank are the children, whose efforts and enthusiasm invigorates the staff year on year.

“The pupils are a credit to themselves, their school and the area.”

The awards night was held at Clacton’s Princes Theatre on Tuesday and there was another Harwich success in the shape of teenager Emma Joslin, who became the first polocrosse player to pick up the coveted Junior Female Sports Personality Award.

The 16-year-old has enjoyed plenty of success over the past 12 months and was selected to represent the UK in the under-16 category at the Australia Junior Classic.

Her talent was further recognised when she helped England to victory in the Pony Club inter-nations competitions at the end of July, in Cheshire.
