HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club’s under-12s were involved in a thrilling match at Colchester, who eventually secured a dramatic 5-4 victory.

Early on, they were forced on to the back foot by their well-organised opponents.

Colchester scored first but Harwich (pictured) struck back with a good individual try from Ioan Woodward.

However, the majority of the play was still coming from the home side, who scored two more tries.

Harwich began to get going and strong running from Harrison Hunt, Samuel Parker and Liam Atkins, allied to aggressive tackling and rucking from Tommy Moore, George Smith, Joshua Reason, Liam Warren, Samuel Messenger and Cameron Brunsden, helped Harwich get on top.

Harry Woodley dived over to score and Regan Constable, causing trouble for the Colchester defence with his direct, hard running, picked up Harwich’s next try.

Colchester scored again but Joe Sewell made it all-square with a trademark charge and finish.

Harwich were dominating and had Colchester under pressure, but they couldn’t quite use the space to finish the job.

With the final play of the game, Colchester managed to get over and score a final try.
