HARWICH and Dovercourt Rugby Club eased to a 102-0 success at home to Stowmarket seconds.
However, coach Shane Manning admitted it was far less satisfying than a hard-fought victory.
“It wasn’t the best game to play in or watch,” he said, following the Eastern Counties League division two contest on Saturday.
“To win 102-0 is not the same as playing a hard game like Sudbury.
“However, we rested a number of players and the guys who stepped up from the seconds did a good job.
“They played what was in front of them and, after a slow start, really kicked on in the second half.
“Every player contributed, but a few stood out.
“Adam Palmer took his four tries well and is improving all the time.
“Josh Newlyn also played well, as did 17-year-old Chuck Heeney, who played his first-ever first-team game and scored two tries.”
