AN annual girls' football tournament took place at Little Oakley's Memorial Ground.

It was the 12th year the primary school children have competed for the Gabriella Bertram Shield and Harrison Rumsby Plate.

Almost 40 girls competed in a friendly environment, which saw a great standard of play from all involved.

Two Village were the top team and went away with the Gabriella Bertram Shield.

Chase Lane A finished second and won the Harrison Rumsby Plate, while Wix & Wrabness were third, St Osyth fourth and Chase Lane B fifth.

St Osyth Church of England Primary School head of school and event organiser Paul Bertram said: "Thanks must go to all the coaches, parents, Little Oakley Football Club, event organiser Elaine Rumsby and referees Andy Brown and Colin Young.

"Without them, such a successful event could not have taken place.

"However, the main people I would like to thank are the children themselves who showed passion, good sportsmanship and a great attitude during the whole event.

"They were all a credit to their schools."
