HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club members competed for the annual Panama Cup.

This is a stableford competition played in memory of joint-founder member Andy Bradley.

It resulted in a narrow victory for Chris Day, with 34 points.

He won on countback from Phil Davies, while Karl Timmis was third with 33.

Meanwhile, Harwich's veterans' section have enjoyed two 6-2 victories, against Forrester Park and Purdis Heath.

MISTLEY'S cricketers were denied by the wet weather on Saturday.

Their Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one contest at Worlington had to be abandoned, having already been reduced to 80 overs.

Worlington batted first and made 190 for seven, with the Swans' Tim Scott returning the best bowling figures - three for 22 in his 10 overs.

Ian Morton took two for 37 and skipper Danny Goff two for 61, both in 10 overs.

In reply, Mistley were 17 for one - having lost opener Graeme Butcher for a duck - when the wet weather forced an early ending.

Worlington took 11 points from the contest and the Swans nine.

Mistley, who are third from bottom in the table, now switch their attention to tomorrow's match at high-flying Wivenhoe.

The club's second team were unable to start last weekend's division three encounter against Sudbury.

It was cancelled without a ball being bowled and both sides were awarded six points.
