MISTLEY Rugby Club have appointed a new chairman.

Richard Percival was unanimously voted in at the club's recent annual general meeting.

He replaces William Meston, who had held the position for six years.

"This is a great step forward for the club and Richard - known as Percy - has great visions for the future, with the main aim of increasing the size of our clubhouse, which is paramount for the next generation of rugby players coming through," said Meston.

"This is time for new blood and new ideas and I wish Richard all the very best."

Meston will continue as President, with David Tate as Immediate Past president, Shelagh Tate as Secretary and David Wood as Treasurer.

New committee members have joined and their duties will be decided at the next committee meeting Pre season commencing this week will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 7pm at Furze Hill.

In addition, gym sessions will be held at Busybody's on July 30 and August 6, 13, 20 and 28, at 12.30pm.

This is in preparation for the season, which begins on September 3.

New players from 17 years upwards are most welcome.
